Thrilling Showdown at Leg 4 of the National Karting Championship: A Recap of our Five Star Performers

The fourth leg of the Namibian National Karting Championship held on 2024/06/15 at Tony Rust was nothing short of spectacular, as drivers took to the track with determination, skill, and a touch of bravado. The sun was shining, engines were roaring, and the atmosphere was electric. Here's a look at the standout performances of our four exceptional drivers who made this event unforgettable.

1. Luna Dos Santos

Luna is getting better every time she straps on her helmet and going out with a smile that lights up the track.

  • Qualifying: She pushed hard and we where super proud as she qualified 4th
  • Race Performance: She gave her  everything in each race giving her a 4th finish for the day.
  • Highlight Moment: Luna's charisma of track and on track is unmatched by anyone competing on the day.

2. Gury Dos Santos

Gury brought fire and determination to the happenings the weekend. Getting closer to Russel throughout the weekend showing that we have some amazing potencial to take the fight to Russel.

  • Qualifying: Giving it all he had he marked the second position for the start of race 1.
  • Race Performance: Gury had hard racing with the bambino class super tight as it always is. We where second fastest the whole day having more than the back behind us but just lacking raw pace that Russel brought to the weekend.
  • Highlight The second race we saw a back marker effecting our leading position with Gury trying to navigate him opening the door for Russel to sweep through

3. Nic Kruger

Nic Kruger was defiantly the class of the field when it came to pure pace in the micro max class. He unfortunately made small mistakes, but ultimately the day was his.

  • Qualifying: Nic was simply breath taking in qualy. He set a lap record for micro max of 36.152 and getting pole by half a second. Same crazy pace.
  • Race Performance: As the light fell in race 1 he calmly and steady pulled a gap ending the race with a awesome 6 second gap at the end. Race 2 started strong with a gap pulled , but unfortunately a laps in concentration allowed Koudelka to barge through and Nic not being to repass. Race 3 Koudelka had the lead and we couldnt take it of him..
  • Highlight Moment: Nic's pure pace was amazing showing that we are moving in the correct direction. Notes made now to improve.

4. Nicolais Mostert

Nicoloais Mostert being the driver with the least amount of experience is making amazing progress weekend by weekend. This weekend was huge improvement in pace and knowledge gained allowing him to take home 4th in mini max

  • Qualifying: Having a super fast drivers in the field he put his head down and pushed hard giving a 4th place start for heat 1.
  • Race Performance: Nicolais was growing his craft with each heat with amazing driving and close racing with his competitors
  • Highlight Moment: Nicolais drove with a class of a driver with way more expiernce and not making any silly passes or moves when not needed.'

5. Ezequiel Dos Santos

I would clasify this as one of the most rollercoaster weekend we have seen/experienced with a driver. From Friday where the kart was close to a write off due to a crash , to being put last in quli due to a technical infringement  to ending the day with the top honers.

  • Qualifying: Going out we where sure Ezequiel had the pace, but he got edged out barely by just 0.1 seconds for pole. Technical infringement caused us to be back of the pack unfortunately
  • Race Performance: Race 1 saw the wildest overtakes for the day with a 3 wide start leaping Ezequiel into first and him maintaining that for the race win. Race 2 was sparked with controversy and tragedy. Going into the first corner Ezequiel went for the move an the door being slammed closed. This caused him to spin and unfortunately Nikita clipped him and she was send into the barriers causing her to be seriously insured.(She was checked out later with only a old rib injury rearing its head.) and her kart a complete write off. Eqequiel limped home to finish the race for second and we scrambled to repair the kart. Race 3 pole was optimised and a gap pulled. This gap was maintained till the end for the win.
  • Highlight Moment: Ezequiel's race 1 start  had the whole pits on aww and on their feet.
